A little about me: I was raised in Texas and attended college in Louisiana, where I earned my bachelor’s degree in psychology from Northwestern University while teaching horseback riding at a local boarding ranch. I later received my master’s degree in counseling from McNeese University in Lake Charles, Louisiana. After graduation, I entered the mission field through employment in the prison system. I began working with incarcerated individuals as a substance use counselor and was later promoted to mental health manager, where I gained invaluable experience in meeting people where they are and supporting their healing process. Following my time in the prison system, I became a director for a non-profit organization, developing and implementing a substance abuse program for the community. I also worked with community mental health agencies, providing mental health diagnostics and evaluations, including mindfulness counseling and stress management counseling to enhance overall well-being.
Affectionately called 'Miss B' by younger clients, I followed my passion for healing with horses by founding Miss B Haven’s Counseling on my five-acre East Texas farm. Here, people can access therapy services, including mental health counseling and educational offerings, using horses and other farm animals as part of the healing and learning process across various aspects of life.
